Blog on week 26 of 2026
I went off the rails with this blog for a long time. Almost a year, in fact. Which is astounding given my output for years prior. At it’s peak, I had 3 blogs on 3 domains with focus areas. This one being personal, one for climate stuff and another for gaming.
I’ve definitely fallen out of love with gaming media, magazines, etc. So much so that I’ve ended my long-term affair with Edge Magazine. The quality of the writing, the print, design, etc. are flawless as ever. But I just don’t have enough invested emotionally to care about what’s in there. I’ve swapped that money out for a subscription to more thought provocation in Works in Progress. And in Road Rat (a car culture magazine).
And while climate is top of mind for me and my family, I can’t keep blogging about it specifically.
On top of my role changing at work last year, the kids and everything in-between, I just don’t have the time. But I am committing to keeping this up to date. Hopefully weekly, but no promises. I know I have a number of RSS subscribers and the hits on the site (albeit a wonky metric) tends to be steady and gratifying.
I’ll smash some of the old posts from the climate & gaming stuff into here and just leave this domain as the “one” domain.
Some random updates since my last proper stint writing here:
- As noted above, I changed roles. I’m more EMEA-focused now, which has been a blessing in disguise with regard to travel, timezones, etc. Especially with young kids. Same company, lots of the same colleagues, etc.
- I bought my family dream car about 18 months ago; a Porsche Macan. I’ve had a life-long love affair with the brand. And as anyone who knows me would note about me, my passion for motorsports is enormous. But, I took a midlife crisis leap this year and bought a 2022 911 (992.1). I get to bring it to it’s first track day next month. To say I’m excited is an understatement.
- My youngest son (now 4 years old) will go to school in September, which will dramatically change our morning and evening routines for the better!
- I’ve been working on a side project for motorsports that I’m actually quite happy with: outlap.
